Frank Field to update residents on campaign to improve Birkenhead bus services

09 April 2019
Wirral Globe Birkenhead’s MP Frank Field has called two further public meetings this weekend to report on progress being made by the campaign to improve the town’s bus services.

Since the two initial meetings took place in February – at which Noctorum, Beechwood, and Oxton householders voiced their concerns about current services – Mr Field said he has pursued their concerns with Arriva and Merseytravel.

He will be meeting both organisations in the coming days to discuss a range of options for improving these services.

The outcome of these discussions will be shared with residents on Saturday.

In addition, taxi drivers have been working with the MP on a proposal to help fill any remaining gaps with an affordable service at certain times of the week, and will be presenting details of this proposal.

Concerns have centred upon the difficulties people face when trying to travel to and from work, health facilities, shops, or the town centre – particularly at evenings and weekends.

More than 200 have signed Mr Field's petition calling for these issues to be addressed.

The two public meetings will take place this Saturday, April 13.

The first will begin at 9.45am and is being held at St Andrew’s Church Hall, Noctorum.

The second will begin at 10.30am and is being held at The Little Centre, Beechwood.
