Children set to benefit from one hundred sessions providing meals and activities in the Spring Holiday

27 March 2019
Food bank

Hundreds of children in Wirral will be able to access meals and activities in their community during the Spring Holiday, as part of the latest Feeding Birkenhead, Supporting Wirral programme published today.

Having delivered similar programmes during each school holiday since 2015, Feeding Birkenhead, Supporting Wirral is investing nearly £2,000 in one hundred sessions to ensure as many children as possible can benefit from free or low-cost meals and activities over the next two weeks.

Commenting on the programme, Frank Field MP said: ‘We have been really fortunate to build up a strong network of projects through Feeding Birkenhead, Supporting Wirral, which has given many hundreds of children the chance to eat decent meals and have fun during the school holidays. Having recently gained national action from the Department for Education to improve children’s access to healthy food and enriching activities in the holidays, it is crucial that we continue this good work locally so that as many children as possible are able to return to school ready to learn and having enjoyed their time off.’
